Abstract: Objective : To study the effect of Parks operation combined with plastic operation of colon after anterior resection on low rectal carcinoma. Methods The clinical data of 28 patients undergoing operation during January 1999 to September 2004 were analyzed. Results : A total of 25 patients were followed in the group where 2 anastomotic leakage, 1 anastomotic stricture and 2 local recurrence occurred. The data of defecation frequency during 5 months after operation was 1 to 2 per 24h, 3 to 4 per 24 h and more than 4 per 24h, counting for 73.9%, 17.4% and 8.7%, respectively. Conclusion : Parks operation combined with plastic operation of colon after low anterior resection can significantly improve the bowel function of rectal cancer.
